From the creators of the Hitman series, with the same composer of music...
comes Freedom Fighters!
Gameplay: 9
You play as a freedom fighter in the US of A, trying to win the Soviet's Communist Army and liberating the whole country from the Soviet superpower. You began you path of when your brother is captured by them, and now you want payback.
The game is pretty cool. You'll earn points and when you 'level up', you can recruit freedom fighters to fight along side you, and they do it well. Issuing commands to them are also easy as 123. Really, commands just use any of the 1, 2 or 3 keys on the top row of your keyboard. There's a small but already nice selection of weapons, squad based action, and lots of soldiers to shot at. Unlike IOI's previous games, which is mostly on Stealth-based grounds, Freedom Fighters is all about shooting and hope it hits.
The AI is quite realistic to me. When the soviets hear gun fire, the soldiers will take cover and shoot from there. You and your squad can too. They also run away from grenades and sometimes ambush you. The game is so fun that you'll be hooked, loving every moment of it. And when the game ends, you'll catch yourself saying: "That's it? I WANT MORE!" IOI! Please listen to the fans, release a mission creator or something to lengthen the game! It's too short for me.
The game take place in alot of places, from a theater, to a post office. The enemies also varies. As you progress through the game, more heavily armed and armored enemies start to appear. And in the later part of the game, you'll have to face off with a tank. Sounds cool enough, wait till you read the graphics section.
There also should be a control for switching weapons quickly, switching from your rifle to a pistol, than testing your luck with the mouse roller, rolling to search for your weapon.

Ragdolls are back, with a vengence. No clipping, no default animations, just plain physics. See an enemy on the stairs, shot him and enjoy watching him fall. Though they die like those in Hitman 2, Freedom Fighters coupled it with some very nice explosions. Sometimes, they or your squad get caught by the explosion shockwave, and they will be tossed in the air like ragdolls. ( which makes the name, ragdoll. )
IOI also made it look like the Communists have occupied the USA, with propegenda posters everywhere. Though the weather effect is alittle overdone, making it hard to see enemies, you can switch it off or lower the amount of rain/snow falling. In short, the graphics are stunning, detailed and very very very beautiful.
Sound: 10
Jesper Kyd does it again, pulling off quite a number of music tracks for the game. With a stunningly amazing choir singing the songs in Russian, and with that russian feel, feels oddly good listening to it. Voice acting is great, the sound too. But I really love the music.
Replayablity: 6
Even though there are different difficulty options, it's pointless to go through the whole game again, playing the same missions again, killing the same people again. It might be fun to watch the numerous ways a ragdoll can land on a truck after being blasted away, but don't expect this game to last long. I want a mission creator!
Reviewer's Opinion: 9
A mission creator should be available for download, or this game won't last long enough to last for 2 weeks.
I love those ragdolls, I wish all games use ragdolls and not animated death sequences. Ragdolls don't clip, and they look like they died like a human, and not scripted to die like a human.
